Feeling good about how we feed our babies
What’s wrong with the Individual Focus?
The UK has a very high breastfeeding disappointment rate.
What does that mean?
- Four in five UK mothers decide to breastfeed when the baby is born.
- Around eight in ten mothers who stopped breastfeeding in the first six weeks did so before they had planned to.
- Over the first nine months, around three quarters of mothers who stopped breastfeeding had intended to continue for longer.
- At 12 months the UK has the one of the lowest rates of breastfeeding in the world.
Many UK mothers do not really get to ‘choose’ how to feed their babies.
