Feeling good about how we feed our babies

How we think about feeding babies… and how we could think

What are we interested in, when it comes to how babies are fed?

It can be useful to think about this by describing simplified positions.*

A Health Focus aims to make mothers and babies healthier.

A Woman’s Rights Focus aims to free women from unwarranted guilt and pressure and able to decide what they want to do with their bodies.

An ‘Ecological Focus’ changes the conversation. It looks at how we need to change the wider influences that affect the decisions people are able to make. It helps us to improve health while giving women genuine choices.

An ecological focus moves us from Liberal Feminist approach towards a Social Rights Feminist approach and from a Health Education approach towards Public Health Ethics approach

*Most people’s views don’t fit into one simplified position because we often care about lots of things.
